About Lainey Rose

afterlight-2Why hello there! My name is Madelaine, and I’m just a girl with a craving for exploration, a love of travel and a passion for theatre! Originally from the Pacific Northwest, in the Autumn of 2013, I embarked on my study abroad adventure to the U.K. and started this blog as a way to document my trip and keep my family and friends updated on my experiences living in a different city. Now, I’ve decided to continue this blog to share some of my experiences and advice as a student studying in London, as well as to continue to write about my travels so I can look back on these stories in the future! So feel free to grab a cup of tea, coffee or whatever makes you feel warm and cozy and follow me along this journey! Hopefully I have some interesting and funny stories to tell, after all, Audrey Hepburn said it best “laughing is the best calorie burner!”

F.A.Q.

What camera do you use?

I use a Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 HS and occasionally an iPhone 4S to snap photos on the go! It may not be perfect, but it gets the job done.

How did you come up with your blog name “A Rose By Any Other Name”?

I’m started this blog as a way to document my time studying abroad in England so I wanted to come up with a title that was both relevent to me and my studies. This is part of a quote from Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, and Rose is also my middle name so it just seemed to work!

  1. Dear Madelaine,

My name is Joyce and I work for ExpatFinder.com.
ExpatFinder.com is a free one stop website for people preparing to move or working and living overseas. We provide a myriad of services for expatriates and we have over 2,000 articles to help and support the people moving around the world and we are now creating an interview section to help the expats with real life experiences!
We quite enjoy your blog about living in London, it is very interesting and informative. Would it be possible to interview you to further share some of your tips and feature some of your first hand experience as an Expat and your interview will be published on our Expat Interview section as a guide for our expat readers. The questions are mainly about the day to day lifestyle of an expat. If it would be possible, could you also send some photographs that we can use?
Of course, if you accept, we can add a link to your blog or some of your website.
The questions are enclosed, feel free to respond freely. You can return the doc with your answers if you accept this invitation.
Thanks in advance and do let me know if you prefer other means to conduct this interview and we would be happy to accommodate your terms.

    Best regards,
    Joyce

  2. Hi, I’m an intern for a Leopard Films. We produce a variety of shows for HGTV. I’m finding expatriates for House Hunters International casting. Here’s a message from one of our casting directors!

Hello! My name is Joe Pinzone and I work on a very popular international travel series that documents adventurous individuals’, couples’ and families’ experiences as they make the decision to move abroad. This series is a great opportunity to tell your story and share more about what you like/dislike about your new home. If you think that you or someone you know could be a fit for the show, or if you’d like to get more information, please contact me at JoePinzone@LeopardUSA.com. Thanks!
